September 2000 Acsis Inc. Introduces New, Web-based Vendor Compliance Labeling Solution

Marlton, New Jersey – September 12, 2000 Acsis, Inc., a leading provider of automated data collection solutions for the supply chain, today announced the introduction of its new, Web-based Vendor Compliance Labeling (VCL) solution. The service will allow a customer’s vendors to print barcode labels and tags through a simple, low-cost Internet connection. Introduced as the flagship application to the company’s complete line of Supply Chain Execution services, the system is designed to:
  • provide a consistent method of printing labels
  • eliminate the need for vendors/suppliers to develop individual means of producing labels
  • insure the accuracy of label information
  • print labels faster and easier
  • provide a more accurate means of evaluating vendor performance
  • provide a migration path for additional vendor/customer data exchanges

According to company CEO, Nathan Konecky, “This application delivers a simple yet powerful means of initiating a supply chain strategy.” A single application using customer data produces all labels used in the supply chain, thus assuring compliance. Additionally, a shared access to supply chain data and a common method of linking suppliers and customers has also been established. “This link provides a natural and effective path to other supply chain activities, continued Konecky. In fact, we are in the process of developing enhancements to this service including Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) and lot tracking capabilities.”

Here’s How The System Works

Purchase Order (P.O.) and Delivery information is first extracted from the customer host system and transferred to Acsis’ DataPass Exchange (DPEX) Web server. This information is automatically extracted and transferred on a schedule determined by the customer. When the transferred information is received, the vendor stores it in the DPEX database. Each time information is transferred; it replaces the open Purchase Order information already in the database.

The vendor may then access the DPEX Web site through a browser. After logging on, the vendor is presented with a list of open deliveries. Upon selecting a delivery, the vendor is presented with a list of items, item descriptions, quantity ordered, unit of measure and the number of labels already printed. When an item is selected for printing, the vendor may enter a lot number and the number of labels to print. The DPEX Web server will then cause the labels to print on a barcode label printer located at the vendor’s facility.

October 2000 Acsis, Inc. Introduces DPExchange.Net - New Web Portal Allows Trading Partner to Collaborate over the Internet -

Chicago, Frontline Solutions Expo – October 3, 2000 – Acsis, Inc., a leading provider of automated data collection solutions for the supply chain, today announced the introduction of DPExchange.Net, their new, on-line service for supply chain execution among trading partners. The site allows customers to provide mission-critical information to partners in the supply chain utilizing the latest technologies in ERP integration, database extraction, XML communication, RF data collection (barcode and RFID tracking) and wireless enterprise event updates to cell phones, pagers, PDAs and other intelligent appliances.

Acsis will be demonstrating the site at Frontline Solutions Expo 2000, held October 3 – 5 at the Rosemont Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois. Serving as the primary communications medium for the company’s new Vendor Collaboration Program, the Web portal will feature the following applications:
  • Electronic Purchase Orders - Customers can send purchase orders to all their vendors via the Internet. With DPExchange.net there is no need to fax or mail P.O.'s. These electronic P.O.'s can easily be integrated into the suppliers order entry system.
  • Purchase Order Acknowledgement – This feature provides the customer with instantaneous feedback, automatically acknowledging that the supplier has received the Purchase Order.
  • Vendor Compliance Labeling - From the Purchase Order information extracted from the customers ERP system, DPExchange.net allows the supplier to generate fully compliant barcode labels. There is no need for sophisticated barcode-labeling software. Individual, carton, pallet and quick receive barcode labels are automatically generated from the system.
  • Advanced Shipment Notices - Utilizing an inexpensive scanner to scan the created barcodes, DPExchange.net can generate Advanced Shipment Notices to the customer, providing increased visibility for the incoming shipment.
  • Shipment Authorization - Many trading partners provide daily releases of orders from a large blanket order. DPExchange.net ensures the necessary communication and collaboration between trading partners to easily acknowledge shipment authorizations and alert appropriate personnel to any exceptions.
  • Third Party Warehousing - DPExchange.net facilitates the effective communication of shipments and receipts to third party warehouses. All workflow processes and paperwork involved with the shipment or receipt are created using DPExchange.net.
Steven G. Selfridge, President and Chief Operating Officer of Acsis, Inc., said, “DPExchange.net provides planning visibility and cost savings to both customer and vendor that have not existed up to now. We believe Acsis plays a vital role in the Supply Chain Execution Market, which industry analysts estimate will grow from $1.6 billion in 1999 to $8.3 billion in 2004.
